Lafia, Nasarawa State – The second edition of the Nasarawa State U-13 Inter-Primary School Football Competition is set to kick off on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 4 pm at the Lafia City Stadium. The opening match will feature defending champions Wamba Local Government Area against Doma Local Government Area.

According to Hon. Aliyu Bello, Chief Organizer and Founder of the Aliyu Bello Charity Foundation, the response from participating Local Government Areas has been overwhelming. “I am impressed by the facilities and preparations in place for the young athletes,” he said after inspecting the accommodation arrangements at the Wing Commander Abdullahi Ibrahim Vocational and Skills Acquisition Centre.

The competition aims to celebrate International Children’s Day, commemorate Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule’s 5th anniversary in office, and nurture budding talents. The Organizing Committee has promised to provide competition kits, accommodation, meals, and transportation for the players.

Thirteen Local Government Areas will participate in the tournament, divided into four groups, with two teams qualifying from each group for the knockout phase. The final match is scheduled for May 27, 2024. Trophies, prizes, and certificates of participation are up for grabs.

Wamba Local Government Area is the defending champion, having won the first edition in 2023. The competition is a collaborative effort between the Aliyu Bello Charity Foundation, the Nasarawa State Government, and the Nasarawa State Football Association.

Well-wishers are encouraged to attend and support the young athletes and the State Government.
