The tragic death of Abbas Rabiu, who lost his life following a violent clash during a political gathering in Tudun Gwandara, Lafia, Nasarawa State, left behind a family confronted with a painful and uncertain future. Abbas was reportedly among supporters attending a political gathering in the community when violence erupted. He sustained serious injuries and was later rushed to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, where he eventually died.
Behind the headlines and political tensions was a grieving family and, most importantly, nine children suddenly faced with the reality of growing up without their father. It was against this backdrop that the founder of the Aliyu Bello Charity Foundation, Hon. Aliyu Bello, PhD, stepped forward with a promise to ensure that the children would not be abandoned to the circumstances created by their father’s untimely death.
True to that promise, the nine children have now been re-enrolled in school, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Beyond their immediate return to the classroom, the Aliyu Bello Charity Foundation has committed to sponsoring their education and providing the necessary support to help them remain in school and pursue their dreams.

For the Foundation, this intervention goes beyond paying school fees. It is a deliberate investment in the future of nine young Nigerians whose lives were profoundly affected by a tragedy they did not cause and could not prevent.
The Foundation believes that while nothing can replace a lost father, society can choose to ensure that his children are not deprived of their opportunities because of his death. Education, in this case, becomes more than a right. It becomes a pathway to dignity, independence and a better future.
The story of Abbas’ nine children is therefore no longer only a story of loss. It is becoming a story of hope, compassion, and collective responsibility.
Through this intervention, Hon. Aliyu Bello and the Aliyu Bello Charity Foundation have once again demonstrated that meaningful philanthropy is not simply about making promises. It is about identifying vulnerable lives, taking responsibility, and following through with action.
The Foundation remains committed to its mission of touching lives, supporting vulnerable families, and creating opportunities for children and young people to build better futures. We Rise by Lifting Others.
